Mie Prefecture's largest temple, which takes its doctrine directly from sect founder Shinran Shonin
Senjuji in Ishindencho is popularly known as Takada Honzan; it is the main temple of the Shinshu Takada sect and the largest temple in Mie Prefecture. In the temple grounds stands Nyoraido and the enormous Miedo, which honors the images of successive generations of saints and focuses on a wooden statue of Shinran Shonin. In a corner of the gardens there is also a tea room, Anrakuan. The gardens and tea room were created in the early Edo period with the former designated as a cultural asset.
