Tsu Kannon
津観音(Tsukannon)

One of Japan's three major kannons

The official name of Tsu Kannonji is Enichizan Kannonji. Situated in the center of Tsu City, the temple has been affectionately called Kannon-san by residents and people from neighboring districts from old times. As a Shingon temple it is counted alongside Asakusa and Osu Kannons as one of the three major kannons in Japan. There are annual events, such as a setsubun ceremony to drive out demons on the last day of winter, a Buddhist memorial service (April 1-3) and Tooka kannon (10 days of worship) (August 9).
